The National Youth Service Corps,NYSC agencies have pulled resources together to sensitize the society on ‘teenage sexual implications,health improvement and empowerment of the youths’ in the move to return normlacy in morality adherence and development of the people.
These admonitions were made at an event organized in Oshogbo by these agencies with Osogbo Government High School, St. Marks High School and St. Charles High School as beneficiary participants.
The Corroborative agencies were;The Peer Education Trainers(PETs),Medical group, Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) group, Drug Free and Quality Control ( DFQC) group all under the Community Development Service,CDS of the NYSC.
Mr Tunde Omole, a representative from The Osun State Agency for Control of
HIV and Aids spoke extensively on the causes, signs and symptoms, effects and preventive
measures of HIV and Aids. He encouraged the students to read or ask their Teachers and parents for advice on sexual matters and not to be afraid to talk to them while he warned them to abstain from any and all sexual activities.
The PETs President, Miss Joy Oyedokun advised the participants against gender discrimination and specified gender roles, while she
encouraged them not to follow the general trend of discrimination in homes, classes and even in their career.
Furthermore, Dr. Kunle Ibisola, the Medical CDS President spoke extensively on
early sex,teenage pregnancy, STIs and abortion as he frowned at the indeccesant rate at which such is happening in the society with a plea to desist from such acts.
President of the Drug Free and Quality Control (DFQC) CDS group, Miss Olawumi Olayioye presented a speech on Drug Abuse and adviced the students to refrain from indiscriminate use of drugs.
The President of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) CDS group, Mr Olalere Sodiq and President of Charity CDS,Mr Famian Peter Shola were also at the event.
